5 Free Kindle Books in Science Fiction

I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of science fiction, but I did take the time to pick out free Kindle books that were highly rated. Remember that these books are only free for a limited time.

Hal Spacejock by Simon Haynes

Hal Spacejock doesn't mind navigating to an uncharted planet, landing in a deserted field, dodging customs and loading a suspicious cargo under cover of darkness.

That's a normal day's work.

No, the real battle starts when the customer sends a broken-down pilot to fly Hal's beloved ship ...

Lodestone Book One: The Sea of Storms by Mark Whiteway

On the planet Kelanni, life is cheap.

With the aid of the fearsome "Keltar" enforcers,
in their flying cloaks, a ruthless invader is forcing the native people to mine
the colloquially named "lodestone" - a substance from another universe with
infinitely destructive power.

The only ones who can stop him are a tiny girl with fiery disposition, a
former Keltar, a failed revolutionary, a musician and the mysterious creature,
Boxx, who seems to speak only in riddles.

A Place of Rest by Luke Spychalla

Far at sea, San Avellino Island has been many things - a slave plantation, a grand resort, home to history's most innovative medical research and its deadliest biological hazard. Now it is a prison for trapped researcher Nick LeMay, one of the first to see the island after a half century of quarantine. Deep within its ocean caves, a mysterious force reaches out to Nick, its power stretching across time and space to engage him in a battle for his freedom and the fate of those he holds most dear.

Ambasadora by Heidi Rudy Miller

Sara Mendoza is captured, tortured, and falsely accused of treason by the Embassy, but she is given a chance to win back her freedom. She only needs to charm information from one of the fragger leaders, then kill him. But by the time she figures out the Embassy's intel is flawed and that Sean Cryer is her true mark, she's already in love with him.

Sean knows why Sara is on his ship from the start, but as a lonely, anti-social doser, he doesn't value his life, only his ideology within the fragger organization. Against his better judgment, he becomes her protector, each day caring more about a future he was always afraid to hope for.

In Her Name: Empire by Michael R. Hicks

In the first book of an epic futuristic fantasy trilogy, this is the coming-of-age story of Reza Gard, a young boy of the Human Confederation who is swept up in the century-long war with the alien Kreelan Empire. Nightmarish female warriors with blue skin, fangs, and razor sharp talons, the Kreelans have technology that is millennia beyond that of the Confederation, yet they seek out close combat with sword and claw, fighting and dying to honor their god-like Empress. Captured and enslaved, Reza must live like his enemies in a grand experiment to see if humans have souls, and if one may be the key to unlocking an ages old curse upon the Kreelan race. Enduring the brutal conditions of Kreelan life, Reza and a young warrior named Esah-Zhurah find themselves bound together by fate and a prophecy foretold millennia before they were born.
